Salento Coffee – Colombian Coffee House

Opened by Jamie and Johana Lara, Salento Coffee is an authentic Colombian cafe that serves coffee made with the best beans from Colombia. The coffee house was recently moved to a new, bigger location on Clematis Street, right next to the library. Besides coffee, you’ll also find a breakfast menu with Colombian and classic specialties.
Must-try: the Cerrerito, a Colombian espresso sweetened with scrapings from an unrefined sugar cane block then whisked into an amber colored syrup.

You can choose between a variety of flavors, from fruity sorbets to ice-cream pops to vegan ice-cream pops. Once you chose your flavor, cover your popsicle with chocolate and a variety of toppings. And if your furry friend is with you, treat him with a doggy pop!

Owners: Gustavo Garcia and Marion Van Den Berg.
Owned by Gustavo, who was born in Cuba, and his wife, Marion, this family-owned and operated restaurant has called Downtown Abacoa home since 2012. Copacabana offers authentic Cuban food, Mojitos made from scratch, and live music Thursday through Saturday. Thursday night is usually jazz and blues, while Friday and Saturday nights are always Latin music.
Must-try: the churrasco, or the Cuban favorite Ropa Vieja.

Havana Restaurant – Cuban Restaurant
Owners: The Reyes Family (Martha, Rafael, and Vanessa).
This staple Cuban restaurant was opened more than 25 years ago by Roberto Reyes. Today, his daughter Martha, her husband Rafael and Reyes’ granddaughter Vanessa run the iconic restaurant. Among its many accolades, the restaurant’s Cuban sandwich was rated one of the top 10 in Florida by USA Today. Well-known celebrities like Sofia Vergara, Martha Stewart and others have been known to dine at Havana. In addition to serving tasty food, the Reyes family has been known to give back to the community. This is a wonderful place and local treasure.

In January 2019, wife and husband duo Misleidy Amores and Pedro Rivera opened Mestizo Fusion Cuisine in the Northwood district. Misleidy, who is Cuban, and Pedro, who is Peruvian, bring together a great blend of flavors and present their dishes exquisitely. Among other dishes, this Peruvian restaurant offers a comprehensive vegan menu with all the yummy fixings.
Must-try: the mixed seafood ceviche, the lomo saltado, the yuquitas Mestizo, and the wide variety of vegan dishes such as vegan tamales and ceviches.
