Japanese jewelry artist and storyteller Maeda Asagi is accustomed to holding the world in her hands. Each of her meticulously crafted sculptural creations reflects everyday life, from momentous occasions to how family and society are experienced around the globe. Beginning November 4, Asagi’s work will be on view in “Stories on the Planet: Jewelry of Maeda Asagi” at the Morikami Museum and Japanese Gardens in Delray Beach.

The exhibition features more than 40 pieces, fashioned from wood, Plexiglas, resin, enamel, silver, gold, and semiprecious stones, and finished with paintings and personal engravings. Asagi’s signature work, Stories on the Planet, comprises eight removable brooches that can be connected (physically and symbolically) to fashion one necklace, representing 32 cities across 28 countries and the stories being told throughout.
