One notable aspect of Thomson’s philanthropic passions is his involvement with Big Dog Ranch Rescue (BDRR), the largest cage-free non-kill dog shelter in the United States. With BDRR, Thomson spearheaded the creation of a PTSD training service, connecting veterans with service dogs to provide them with valuable emotional support and assistance. Additionally, in July 2023, Thomson underwrote $10,000 of adoption fees for first responders, police, military personnel, and veterans during the inaugural Christmas in July Adoption Event at Big Dog Ranch Rescue.
Thomson’s charitable initiatives go well beyond the canine world. He established Charities for Children and the Waterfront Way Foundation, both dedicated to helping underprivileged families in the community.
In 2020, he empowered the community to raise funds for a new ADA-compliant school bus for special needs students at Jupiter High School when he discovered their existing bus was 22 years old and lacking essential and ADA amenities. Thomson personally matched all community donations, donating 50% of the total funds needed to provide the students with a brand-new bus. In 2023, he extended his fundraising efforts to build a similar bus for Dwyer High School special needs students, raising over $59K. Thomson currently has a new school bus in production.
The holiday season also witnesses Thomson’s generosity. For over 20 years, Thomson contributes holiday gifts to children from low-income households at the New Macedonia Missionary Baptist Church in Riviera Beach, providing toys and bicycles at Christmas and baskets for Easter.
With a passion for healthy living, Thomson donated $25,000 to Jupiter Medical Center in 2023, committing to contribute an additional $75,000 over the following 3 years to invest in the wellbeing of the community.
