Opening Night at the Cornell Art Museum, Delray Beach

Time: 5 pm – 8 pm.

This Friday, the Cornell Art Museum will open three new exhibitions inside the museum:

  • Art Immersive: Upper-Level Galleries will showcase immersive art with a state-of-the-art, visual and sound projection room, Burning Man 2022 interactive art installation by Claudia LaBianca and a group exhibition from Miami Art Society until January 21, 2024.
  • Delray Walls Artist Showcase: Lower-Level NE and SE Galleries will feature art from 12 Delray Walls mural fest Wild Style Abstract artists, including a student mural created by Space of Mind Students with artist “Arive” mentorship through November 26, 2023.
  • Spotlight Gallery: Juan Abuela: Cuban-born artist Juan Abuela’s “Pressure” series – wood and neon-painted concrete sculptures depicting our response and reaction to “pressure” on display through November 26, 2023.

Bill Muter and the Sharp Shooters, Delray Beach

Time: 8:00 pm – 10:00 pm

A 4-piece band rooted in the tradition of Jazz music, Bill Muter and the Sharp Shooters explore the decadent genres of Jazz such as R&B and Funk in a fun, family friendly time that everyone from the grandparents to grandchildren can enjoy.

Art After Dark – Funky Soul Night, West Palm Beach

Each Friday night from 5:00 pm to 10:00 pm, the Norton Museum of Art in West Palm Beach organizes Art After Dark—a fun mix of art and entertainment featuring a docent-led tour, an open studio, live music, and more! This weekend’s featured band is Josh Mile and The Sweets. Josh Miles is a Dallas Texas born/ Palm Beach Florida based singer and songwriter whose brand of Soul music encompasses a wide range of influences. Click here for more details.

Documentary Film Screening: Resistance at Tule Lake, Delray Beach

Time: 7 pm.

Take a cinematic journey through Japan at the Morikami with the film screening Resistance at Tule Lake.

The dominant narrative of the World War II incarceration of Japanese-Americans has been that they behaved as a “model minority,” that they cooperated without protest and proved their patriotism by enlisting in the Army. Resistance at Tule Lake, a new feature-length documentary from Third World Newsreel and directed by Japanese American filmmaker Konrad Aderer, overturns that myth by telling the long-suppressed story of Tule Lake Segregation Center.

Start Me Up! – A Tribute to The Rolling Stones, Delray Beach

Delray Walls Mural Fest, Delray Beach

Date & Time: July 28-29, 10:00 am – 6:00 pm.

Join the art fest at Old School Square in Delray Beach, where 10 large wood temporary walls will be placed around the campus for 10 muralists to paint live starting on Friday and continue through Saturday!

The event is free to attend, including live musical performances, Arts Garage entertainment & pop ups from Delray’s cultural heritage museums!
