The traditional Yule log cake, or bûche de Noël, has been a fixture on Christmas tables since the late 1800s. This season, Beacon restaurant in Jupiter and executive pastry chef Jenniffer Woo are offering a twenty-first-century spin on the beloved dessert.
“I love the idea of having dessert as the main attraction and centerpiece for a Christmas family dinner,” says Woo. “I did a modern take on a Yule log and chose to represent it in its pure form, as a Yule tree.”
The base is a marbled vanilla and chocolate buttermilk cake with a spiced milk chocolate mousse. Woo paints the outside green using a white chocolate cocoa butter mix and then finishes with colorful sprinkles to represent ornaments. Her Yule log is available to order via Beacon’s website November 27 to December 18.
“I decorated this dessert so it could be a perfect dinner table centerpiece for holiday parties where family and friends gather and share happy memories,” she adds.
